Mumbai, Feb 7 (NationPress) Actress Sadia Khateeb, who launched her acting career in 2020 with Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s “Shikara”, is set to portray the female lead in the political action thriller “The Diplomat”, featuring John Abraham.
Expressing her enthusiasm for the film, Sadia remarked that being part of ‘The Diplomat’ is a remarkable chance.
She added: “Collaborating with John Abraham and such a skilled team has been an amazing journey. My director Shivam was a pleasure to work with. The character tested me in ways I never anticipated, and I am eager for the audience to witness it.”
Directed by Shivam Nair and penned by Ritesh Shah, the movie draws inspiration from actual events that influenced India's global diplomacy.
Sadia made her debut in Shikara, which tells a love story set against the backdrop of the Insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir and the ensuing genocide of Kashmiri Pandits. She played Shanti Dhar, a Kashmiri Brahmin woman compelled to leave her homeland with her husband during the 1990 insurgency in Kashmir.
Following this, she appeared in the film “Raksha Bandhan”, where she portrayed a sister to Akshay Kumar.
The teaser for the film was released on Friday, presenting John in an entirely different role. The teaser reveals Abraham as the real-life Indian diplomat, J.P. Singh, with Sadia Khatib playing Uzma Ahmed.

Based on a true story, “The Diplomat” is helmed by Shivam Nair and crafted by Ritesh Shah. The action thriller also features Revathy and Kumud Mishra.
The film is produced by T-Series’ Bhushan Kumar & Krishan Kumar, John Abraham (JA Entertainment), along with Vipul D. Shah, Ashwin Varde, and Rajesh Bahl, among others.
“The Diplomat” is anticipated to hit theaters on March 7.
On January 16, the 52-year-old actor unveiled the first look of “The Diplomat” on Instagram. The poster showcased John in a sharp suit, flaunting his signature chevron mustache.
