Mumbai, Jan 1 (NationPress) Renowned actress Saira Banu is marking the birth anniversary of her late mother. On Wednesday, the actress took to her Instagram account to reminisce about her mother, Naseem Banu.

She shared a collection of nostalgic photos showcasing various moments from her life with her mother. Alongside the images, she composed a heartfelt message reflecting on how her mother raised her and her siblings while overcoming numerous challenges.

In her caption, she expressed, “The first of January signifies the start of a New Year for everyone, but for me, it also commemorates the birth anniversary of my cherished mother. As we welcome this new beginning, I want to honor the woman who molded my existence, my mother, Naseem Banu Sahiba. Affectionately known as 'Pari Chehra', she was more than a star; she was a galaxy in her own right, the first female superstar of Indian cinema. Beneath her captivating beauty and iconic fame lay a spirit rich in resilience, elegance, and love.”

She went on to say, “Our family consisted of four members: my grandmother Shamshad Abdul Waheed Khan, her sister Khurshid Begum, my elder brother Sultan Ahmed, and myself. Life threw us into the reality of single parenthood early, and at the tender age of 16, Appaji became our guardian and mentor. With a resolve that belied her years, she ensured we were nurtured and empowered to achieve great heights. Her cinematic career began with Sohrab Modi's Pukar, where she portrayed Empress Noorjahan. The film left such an impression that audiences would remove their shoes before entering theaters, as if entering a Mughal Court.”

She recounted how legends like Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan referred to her as the most beautiful woman they had ever encountered. However, her beauty transcended physical appearance; it was evident in her ability to harmonize tradition with modernity. Although we were educated in London, she ensured we remained connected to our Desi roots.

She further elaborated, “Every summer break was spent in Bombay or Delhi, reconnecting with our heritage. When I opted for a film career over further studies, it was her creativity that guided my journey. She paid meticulous attention to the costumes for Junglee, heralding a new chapter in cinematic fashion, and revolutionizing the approach to makeup in Indian cinema, creating innovations that became hallmarks of my career.”

“What truly characterized Appaji was her unwavering devotion. Every achievement I have celebrated is deeply rooted in her sacrifices. She was a mother who not only gave life but also imparted purpose, structure, and boundless love. As I share this, I know no words can encapsulate her essence. Happy Birthday Appaji...no words can ever suffice when it comes to you, rest in peace wherever you are,” she added.
