Salma Hayek has opened up about the uniquely intimate experience of directing the late music legend Prince, recalling how she convinced him to tone down his signature makeup — and how their on-set bond led to impromptu scrambled-egg sessions in the kitchen. The actress shared the candid memories during a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

A Director Prince Actually Listened To

Host Jimmy Fallon set the tone early, remarking, 'No one directs Prince.' Hayek's immediate response: 'I did.' She described the experience as genuinely rare, noting that while Prince occasionally pushed back, she held her ground — and won. 'He did listen to me. Sometimes he would put up a fight. But I would take him on,' she said. Among her small victories: persuading him to ease up on his famously dramatic makeup. 'I toned down the makeup, which was a whole thing,' she added. She also revealed she managed to get him into a swimming pool during the shoot.

Scrambled Eggs and Kitchen Conversations

After wrapping a day's shoot, Prince reportedly made an unexpected but telling request. 'He said, okay, now, can you please make me some scrambled eggs? He liked me cooking,' Hayek recounted. She described how he would settle into the kitchen, chatting and laughing as she cooked. 'He would sit in the kitchen, we would talk, laugh, and I would cook. He loved scrambled eggs.
