Mumbai, July 9 (NationPress) Emmy award winner Sandra Oh has proclaimed herself the “O.G. Smurf fan!”
Oh has provided her voice for Moxie Smurf - the head of an underground group of Smurf activists located in Paris.
The actress shares a profound bond with the Smurfs, having read the original French Smurf comics during her childhood in Canada.
Reflecting on the experience of bringing Moxie to life, Oh expressed, “The memories run deep. In one of my first school plays, I played a Smurf and sang a little song. So I am an O.G. Smurf fan. I think there’s something in their shape that resonates with children. Or perhaps it’s the fact that they are blue.”
In a previous revelation, television host and actor James Corden, the voice of No Name, disclosed that it was Rihanna who encouraged him to join The Smurfs.
Corden recounted receiving an unexpected message from Rihanna, stating, “I got a voice note from Rihanna on my phone, which had never happened to me before or since. She asked, would you like to be in this Smurf movie? Would I? I was so astonished. And that’s how I got to play No Name.”
The film narrates how Smurfette leads the Smurfs on an adventurous quest into the real world to rescue Papa Smurf, who has been mysteriously captured by the wicked wizards Razamel and Gargamel. The Smurfs are later joined by new allies in their journey to uncover their destiny and save the universe from chaos.
The Smurfs will feature Rihanna as Smurfette, Nick Offerman as Ken, JP Karliak as Razamel/Gargamel, Dan Levy as Joel, Amy Sedaris as Jaunty, Natasha Lyonne as Mama Poot, and Octavia Spencer as Asmodius.
All of them have contributed their voices to these cherished characters.
The Smurfs is set to premiere in India on July 18th in both English and Hindi.
