Los Angeles, Aug 8 (NationPress) Actress-singer Selena Gomez discussed the significant impact that the TV sitcom Wizards of Waverly Place had on her life.
The 33-year-old star auditioned for multiple TV shows, including a spin-off of Lizzie McGuire, prior to landing a role in Wizards of Waverly Place.
On the Therapuss with Jake Shane podcast, Selena revealed: "It was actually a strange situation because I was working on three pilots for the Disney Channel. One was for the spin-off of Lizzie McGuire, another was a spin-off of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, and the last one was Wizards.
"Ultimately, none of those shows got picked up, and I felt like I was at my wits' end, but not in a bad way. I thought to myself, ‘Okay, maybe this isn’t meant to be,’ and then Wizards was picked up, and my entire life changed from that moment on.
She continues to express pride in being part of the Disney high school experience, as reported by femalefirst.co.uk.
Gomez, who has also achieved remarkable success in her music career, stated: "It was an immediate realization that I had achieved my dream at that moment. I was a massive fan of the channel. I appreciated what they did for our generation, and being part of it was an honor. I wear it proudly.”
“I am definitely not ashamed of being part of the Disney high school experience... It was all of us, from the Jonas Brothers to Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato, and then Zendaya. It was just so incredible to see everyone you felt like you 'went to school with.' It's great to watch them all succeed.”
Despite her fame, Gomez's family made sure she stayed grounded.
She recalled, "I distinctly remember my mom constantly reminding me to treat any sudden exaggerated fan moments with respect."
