Did Selvaraghavan Just Call Mohanlal India's Best Actor?

Chennai, June 3 (NationPress) Renowned Tamil cinema director Selvaraghavan, who is the elder sibling of actor Dhanush, expressed his admiration for Malayalam superstar Mohanlal on Tuesday, commending his remarkable performance in the hit film, 'Thudaram'. He described himself as "mesmerised by the best actor in India".

In a post on his X timeline, Selvaraghavan shared, "What a brilliant movie Thudarum is! Only @Mohanlal sir could have successfully carried this film! What an actor! I am truly mesmerised by the best actor in India!"

Directed by Tharun Moorthy, 'Thudarum' was released earlier this year and quickly became a massive blockbuster, breaking numerous records at the box office.

The film made history in the Kerala box office, grossing over an astounding Rs 100 crore just in Kerala. The overwhelming audience response led Mohanlal to share a heartfelt note of gratitude.

In his message, Mohanlal expressed, "I’m profoundly touched and humbled by the love and sincere appreciation for #Thudarum. Every message and kind word has resonated with me in ways I cannot fully articulate."

He continued, "Thank you for opening your hearts to this narrative, for recognizing its essence, and for embracing it with such elegance. This gratitude is not solely mine; it belongs to everyone who joined me on this journey, contributing their love, effort, and spirit to every scene."

Mohanlal acknowledged the contributions of his team, saying, "To Renjith M, Tharun Moorthy, KR Sunil, Shobhana, Binu Pappu, Prakash Varma, Shaji Kumar, Jakes Bejoy, and our exceptional team — your creativity and dedication made Thudarum what it is today."

The actor emphasized that Thudarum was crafted with care, intention, and above all, authenticity. "To see it resonate so profoundly is more than a reward; it is a genuine blessing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, with love and gratitude always," he concluded.

Directed by Tharun Moorthy, Thudarum generated immense anticipation among fans for several reasons even before its release.

The primary reason was the return of actress Shobana opposite Mohanlal after nearly 19 years. Their on-screen chemistry is beloved in Malayalam cinema, with notable films like Manichithrathazhu, Thenmavi Kombathu, and Mambazhakkalam featuring their partnership.

Additionally, this film marked Mohanlal’s 360th project and his 56th collaboration with actress Shobana.

The film features music by Jakes Bejoy and cinematography by Shaji Kumar. The screenplay was penned by K R Sunil and Tharun Moorthy, with editing handled by Shafeeque V B and Nishadh Yusuf.
