Mumbai, Dec 29 (NationPress) Renowned actress Sharmila Tagore shared her insights regarding the ongoing discussion surrounding nepotism.
She believes it is entirely natural for children to be influenced by their parents' professions. Sharmila highlighted that this applies to all professions, including doctors, lawyers, artists, and even musicians.
During a conversation with her daughter Soha Ali Khan on her podcast “ALL ABOUT HER,” she was queried about the distinction between nepotism and legacy.
Using the example of Soha's daughter, Inaaya, who sees her mother preparing for work, Sharmila stated, "As Inaaya grows up, she observes you getting ready. If you're engaged in a podcast, she's intrigued, which means she's influenced. This is something that happens universally—children of doctors, lawyers, and artists all look up to their parents and aspire to emulate them, and there's nothing wrong with that."
Sharmila further emphasized that while a prominent figure may help their child secure an initial opportunity in the industry, the ultimate acceptance or rejection depends on the audience's perception of their talent.
She added that if these influential individuals hold substantial sway, they might secure their children a second chance, but that's the extent of their influence.
Additionally, Sharmila explained how producers invest significantly in upcoming actors.
"When you refer to it as nepotism, it's important to note that producers invest heavily in promotion. They may say, 'this is so-and-so's son or daughter', which makes the individual somewhat recognizable. However, once the first film is released, no one can force acceptance upon them," she elaborated.
