Mumbai, June 7 (NationPress) As “Munjya” marks its first anniversary since its debut in Hindi cinema, actress Sharvari reflected on her journey and shared her longstanding fascination with mythology and folklore as a proud Maharashtrian.

She expressed, “Being a Maharashtrian, I’ve always been captivated by mythology and folklore. I had heard stories of Munjya during my childhood, but the depth and creativity in this script completely amazed me.”

The actress mentioned that she had a fantastic experience filming for the movie.

Sharvari continued, “We had an excellent rapport on set, making everything smoother. Munjya was India’s first CGI actor... There was no character reference for us, so we relied on our own creativity to perform.”

The prospect of transforming Marathi folklore into a large-scale Hindi film thrilled her immediately.

She stated, “With Aditya Sarpotdar at the helm, I was overjoyed. I have watched many of his films, which are simply spectacular. We filmed in the Konkan region, and his familiarity with the area—the language, the food, and the traditions—taught us a lot.”

Reflecting on the film’s journey, Sharvari said, “I can’t believe a year has passed since the release of Munjya. Portraying Bela was an incredibly fulfilling experience, but what truly surprised me was the immense affection the audience showed for our dance number ‘Taras’.

“For someone at the beginning of my career, having a producer like Dinesh Vijan support me in such a big, energetic number was surreal.”

She noted that typically, only established actors or dance icons get such major dance sequences because they have the star power to attract audiences.

“It’s a significant acknowledgment of my abilities that I can also contribute to a hit dance anthem!”

Sharvari further shared, “Seeing Munjya surpass the ₹100-crore milestone and remain beloved even after a year is surreal. The fan celebration today made it even more special. Walking into the dance workshop and witnessing their joy genuinely touched me.”

“I got to thank them personally for keeping Bela and ‘Taras’ alive in their hearts over the past year. One fan even requested I do the hook step, and naturally, I joined in! We danced together, shared laughter, and they surprised me with a sweet birthday gift for the film’s anniversary.”

She expressed that it was one of those heartfelt moments that reminded her of her passion for cinema.

Munjya, a horror-comedy, also features Abhay Verma, Sathyaraj, and Mona Singh. The titular character was entirely designed using CGI. It is the third installment in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe and revolves around the legend of Munjya, inspired by Indian folklore and mythology.
