Mumbai, June 28 (NationPress) Shefali Jariwala has been laid to rest at Mumbai's Oshiwara Crematorium. Her father, brother, and husband conducted her last rites in accordance with Hindu traditions.
For those unfamiliar, this is the same location where Sidharth Shukla's final rites were held in 2021. Shefali and Sidharth appeared together on the thirteenth season of the reality series, "Bigg Boss".
A video of her husband, Parag Tyagi, along with Hindustani Bhau, transporting Shefali’s body to her bier circulated widely on social media. Shefali developed a close friendship with Hindustani Bhau during their stint in the Bigg Boss house, even tying rakhi to him.
Upon visiting the R.N. Cooper Municipal General Hospital, where Shefali was taken after her passing, Hindustani Bhau told the media, “She was like my family. More than a sister, she was my child.”
Many industry colleagues attended the funeral to pay their respects.
Shefali passed away on the night of June 27 after experiencing a cardiac arrest.
When her husband brought her to the hospital, she was pronounced dead on arrival by the medical staff.
In the meantime, Maharashtra Minister of State for Home Affairs, Yogesh Kadam, promised a comprehensive investigation into the unexpected death of the 42-year-old actress.
In a statement to IANS, he remarked, “The police have gathered information, and the investigation is ongoing. If there is any foul play or if a complaint is received, we will certainly explore that angle and carry out a thorough inquiry. We cannot speculate at this stage, but if any doubts arise, appropriate action will be taken.”
Moreover, police have recorded statements from eight individuals involved, including family members, staff, and the doctor at Bellevue Hospital.
While initial reports point to a heart attack as the cause of death, the official cause has yet to be confirmed by the doctors who performed the postmortem.
