Mumbai, Dec 19 (NationPress) Actress Shilpa Shetty has decisively refuted attempts to connect her to the ongoing Best Deal TV legal case, deeming the allegations as unfounded, distressing, and legally invalid.

In a statement, Shilpa clarified that her involvement with the company was entirely non-executive, with no participation in its operations, finances, decision-making, or any signing authority.

She stated: “I am deeply saddened by the unfounded attempt to implicate me in this situation. My relationship with the company has been purely non-executive, devoid of any role in its operations, financial dealings, decision-making, or signing authority.”

The actress emphasized that, like various other public figures, she endorsed products for the home shopping channel solely in a professional capacity.

Furthermore, she noted that her family has lent Rs. 20 Crore to the company, which remains unpaid.

“In fact, like numerous other public figures, I have endorsed certain products for the home shopping channel in a professional capacity, for which payments owed to me are still outstanding. I wish to make it clear that my family has loaned almost 20 Crore rupees to the company, and this amount is still unpaid,” she explained in her statement.

Labeling the efforts to assign criminal liability to her as “mischievous,” Shilpa remarked: “The mischievous effort to assign criminal liability to me, especially after an unexplained delay of nearly nine years, is legally untenable and contrary to established legal principles.”

She stressed the personal toll these claims have on her, stating that such unjustified accusations not only distort the truth but also unfairly damage a woman’s reputation in the public eye.

“Despite these facts, my name continues to be unnecessarily drawn into these proceedings, which is both distressing and unjustified. Such unwarranted claims not only misrepresent the facts but also lead to a woman’s dignity, integrity, and reputation being unjustly compromised in the public sphere,” she said.

Quoting the Bhagavad Gita, she added: “As mentioned in the Bhagavad Gita, ‘Failing to oppose injustice when it is your duty, is itself Adharma.’”

With a “quashing petition” already filed with the Bombay High Court, she stated: “I have complete faith in the judicial process and will pursue appropriate legal remedies to safeguard my rights and reputation. I kindly urge the media to acknowledge these facts and report responsibly by verifying the truth.”
