Mumbai, Nov 12 (NationPress) Actress Shilpa Shetty took a heartfelt journey down memory lane on Wednesday as her debut film Baazigar celebrated its 32nd anniversary since its premiere.
The actress reminisced about her time working alongside Shah Rukh Khan in this classic thriller, which remains dear to her. In her Instagram Stories, Shilpa shared a captivating montage showcasing memorable clips from “Baazigar,” including some of her iconic moments alongside Shah Rukh and Kajol. The video also features segments from the beloved song “Kitaben Bahut Si.”
In her post, the Dhadkan star expressed, “#32YearsofBaazigar & what a journey it’s been!”
“Baazigar” marked Shilpa’s entry into the film industry and earned her a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. Directed by Abbas–Mustan, this romantic thriller also starred Kajol, Dalip Tahil, and Raakhee. The movie was loosely inspired by the 1991 film “A Kiss Before Dying,” derived from Ira Levin’s 1953 novel. It soared to become the fourth-highest-grossing Hindi film of the year.
The plot of “Baazigar” unfolds around a young man, played by Shah Rukh Khan, who embarks on a dark quest for revenge to rectify his family's downfall.
At a recent event, Shilpa recounted a dramatic scene where her character was thrown off a building by Shah Rukh's character. During a film festival, she shared, “Akbar Bhai was the action director for the film, and we filmed that scene nearly five times. I had a scar on my hip for about 8-10 years because I was required to wear a harness.”
“Back then, we didn't have any VFX. So, I had to perform authentically to convey my feelings, and the building was in motion. However, the filmmakers believed the scene could be executed better,” she humorously remarked, “I feel like I’ve died nearly 15 times.”
“Baazigar” was released on November 12, 1993.
