Mumbai, Nov 6 (NationPress) The 90s were a vibrant era in the entertainment industry; Hindi cinema was not under corporate control, and films were not merely seen as “projects” or “content”. Instead, they represented “cinema”, crafted for the enjoyment of the everyday viewer.

Among the unforgettable films of the 90s is ‘Gopi Kishan’. Actress Shilpa Shirodkar, who is preparing for the release of her new film ‘Jatadhara’, reminisced about her experience with ‘Gopi Kishan’. She recalled how she focused solely on her role, unaware of the film's overall narrative until she viewed the complete movie.

In an interview with IANS during the promotional activities for ‘Jatadhara’, she took a nostalgic journey back in time.

Shilpa shared, “‘Gopi Kishan’ is my favorite film. I often say that if we had access to social media during our time, the film would have reached a much greater audience. Nowadays, thanks to television and social media, people are finally appreciating it after all these years.”

Reflecting on her cherished memories of the film, she stated, “What stands out is that we had no idea we were creating such a hilarious film. I simply followed the director's instructions, and along with Sunil, we treated it as just a fun project. We were oblivious to its comedic potential.”

“The entire crew behind the scenes would laugh uncontrollably, and we couldn't understand why because we lacked monitors to review our performances. It was only during a press screening at Filmalaya studio that we realized, ‘Oh my God, this is a laughter riot!’ I prefer watching the final product with all its elements; it was at that press event that I understood how well-crafted the film was, with the comedic timing working perfectly. It's heartwarming to see that even after many years, fans still approach me saying, ‘Ma'am, ‘Gopi Kishan’ is incredible!’”
