Mumbai, Oct 31 (NationPress) Actress Shilpa Shirodkar has witnessed the evolution of the work culture from the 90s to the present day. In an exclusive interview with IANS, the 'Gopi Kishan' star shared her reflections on what she longs for from that vibrant era.
When asked about the 90s, she replied, "Not really. If I kept wishing for the past, how could I stay focused in today’s time?"
Shilpa noted that what she finds lacking today is the emotion and depth in relationships.
She expressed, "Back then, films revolved around emotions and human connections. We secured roles through genuine relationships — just a call, and you were in. The contemporary system is different, but I wouldn’t want to revisit that era. I would, however, cherish the lessons and experiences gained from collaborating with remarkable individuals back then," she added.
On the professional front, Shilpa is set to portray the pivotal role of Sobha in the upcoming drama, "Jatadhara".
Elaborating on the excitement of bringing Shobha to life, she shared, "Honestly, just being in front of the camera was the most thrilling part — it felt like a dream realized. Portraying such a complex character was challenging because I’m nothing like Shobha in reality. However, as an actor, you seamlessly adapt to every role you take on."
She further mentioned, "The directors and Prerna provided such clear guidance that once you were on set, embodying the character was effortless."
Describing her collaboration with Sonakshi Sinha as "Fabulous!", Shilpa remarked, "She’s incredibly easy-going and carries no baggage. On set, she’s just one of us — always cheerful, dedicated, and radiating positivity. There’s no ego, no tantrums, and no hierarchy. Working with her is truly a delight."
