Actor Ranvir Shorey has publicly responded to Rahul Bhatt's admission of physically assaulting him, calling it a long-overdue acknowledgement of facts he says were buried under years of false narratives. Shorey posted his reaction on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, 30 September, stating that the truth had finally surfaced after more than two decades.

What Rahul Bhatt Admitted

During a recent podcast appearance, Rahul Bhatt revealed that he had physically assaulted Ranvir Shorey following an altercation the actor had with Rahul's sister, actress Pooja Bhatt. Rahul said he stepped in, struck Shorey, and broke the glass of his car. He also reportedly expressed regret over the incident and praised Shorey for not harbouring grudges and handling the situation with composure.

Ranvir Shorey's Response

Reacting to Rahul's podcast remarks, Shorey posted a note on X in which he wrote: 'I'm glad over 20 years of malicious propaganda and slander has finally given way to some truth. Let me add the missing piece, so it can finally rest now, defending yourself against violence to escape someone toxic is not 'hitting'.'

The statement suggests Shorey is contesting the framing of the original incident, implying that any physical response on his part was an act of self-defence rather than aggression — a characterisation he says was distorted for years.

Background: Pooja Bhatt and Ranvir Shorey's Relationship

Pooja Bhatt and Ranvir Shorey became close while working together on the 2003 film Jism and subsequently entered into a relationship in the early 2000s, eventually living together. Their relationship ended bitterly in 2002. Both actors have spoken publicly about the fallout over the years, offering conflicting accounts of what transpired.

Shorey had previously alleged that Pooja's family portrayed him as an alcoholic and abusive partner. He also claimed that Rahul Bhatt had assaulted him in the aftermath of his argument with Pooja — an allegation Rahul has now, by his own account, confirmed.

Following the end of her relationship with Shorey, Pooja Bhatt married VJ-turned-restaurateur Manish Makhija in 2003. Ranvir Shorey went on to marry actress Konkona Sen Sharma in 2010.
