Will Sid Sriram Compose for More Movies in the Future?

Chennai, Sep 8 (NationPress) Renowned vocalist Sid Sriram, poised for his inaugural comprehensive tour across India later this year, has expressed his intent to compose film music, albeit in five years.

In a special interview with IANS, Sid Sriram, who has celebrated 13 remarkable years in the music realm, reflects on his ascent to prominence in the singing world and shares his gratitude for his journey.

The talented artist, known for his enchanting voice and mastery of classical music, reminisces about his artistic path.

"It’s been a truly wonderful journey. It has been somewhat unpredictable. When I began my foray into this industry, it wasn’t by chance, but it unfolded in a serendipitous manner. I hadn’t mapped out a career plan. I was simply open to new experiences, allowing my career to develop organically, and it has evolved in a fascinating and beautiful way. I am thankful for these 13 years," he remarks with a smile.

Now, nearly 13 years later, the artist is gearing up for his first-ever tour in India this November. He will perform at the Terraform Arena in Bengaluru on November 22, followed by concerts at YMCA Nandanam in Chennai on November 29, and the LB Stadium in Hyderabad on December 13.

Regarding his forthcoming tour, he states, "In November and December, we're embarking on an India tour, covering Chennai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad, with the possibility of a few additional cities. This tour will celebrate my entire journey, showcasing all the music I've created from the beginning to now, including my film hits, beloved reinterpretations from my youth, and my original works. It will be a cohesive representation of my identity as an artist."

He continues, "This is our first formal tour in India. Although I have performed numerous one-off shows nationwide, this will be the first time we’re organizing a series of shows like this. It feels like the right time to reflect on my journey, share it with fans across the country, and celebrate what I’ve accomplished."

With a captivating voice and a profound understanding of music, especially Carnatic music, it’s only natural for Sid’s fans to anticipate his foray into composing.

Sid shares, "I worked on a film just before the pandemic, produced by Madras Talkies, penned by Mani Ratnam, and directed by Dhana. The film, titled Vaanam Kottatum, was released in February 2020. I thoroughly enjoyed that experience as it was a steep learning curve for me."

"I have been creating my own music for years, even before entering the film industry. However, composing for a film requires immersing oneself in its world and aligning music with its narrative, which is not solely driven by personal vision. That experience taught me invaluable lessons."

"The strict deadlines were enlightening. Spending over six months engrossed in that environment, especially with daily interactions with Mani sir, allowed me to absorb a wealth of knowledge. Post that experience, I decided I would know when I’m ready to compose again. It’s incredibly time-consuming, and I have much more I want to create based on my own vision. I foresee composing for films in about five years, once I’ve accomplished more of my original music," he concludes.
