Rap legend Snoop Dogg has been cast in the upcoming boxing drama 'The Faith of Long Beach', starring alongside Brandon Perea in a film that promises to be a deeply personal tribute to the city where the 54-year-old artist was raised. The project is written and directed by Eric Amadio.

What the Film Is About

'The Faith of Long Beach' centres on a soft-spoken street fighter who grew up in a Long Beach group home, caught between the pull of a troubled past and the promise of a future in professional boxing — following in his father's footsteps. Director Amadio has described the film as far more than a conventional coming-of-age boxing story, calling it a narrative about 'having faith in yourself when nobody else has any, and faith in the people who refuse to give up on you.'

What Amadio and the Producers Said

Amadio spoke about his casting choices with evident conviction. 'With Brandon, I knew instantly I had my nuanced, complicated fighter. And with Snoop, I've got the authentic OG who's seen every version of that kid and still bets on him anyway. It's an honour to shine a long-overdue cinematic spotlight on the city and people of Long Beach,' he said.

Adonis Tountas of Everlast Pictures, who is co-producing the film, added: 'Partnering with Snoop and Sara on The Faith of Long Beach represents a truly special alignment of creative vision and cultural authenticity. Snoop has long embodied the spirit, resilience, and heart of Long Beach, making him an essential voice in bringing this story to life.'

Snoop's Role and Production Involvement

While the specific character Snoop Dogg will portray has not yet been confirmed, the rapper is not only acting in the film but also producing it. He will serve as producer alongside Everlast Pictures' Adonis Tountas and Sara Ramaker under his Death Row Pictures banner.

Snoop said in a statement: 'Death Row Pictures is proud to be a part of The Faith of Long Beach. This is the type of story that hits different — heart, grit, struggle and redemption all wrapped up in that Long Beach spirit. This one got soul.'

Snoop Dogg's Growing Film Career

The casting adds to an increasingly prominent film portfolio for Snoop Dogg, who has previously appeared in 'Training Day' and 'Dolemite Is My Name'. He recently landed what he described as a 'life-changing' role in 'God of the Rodeo', directed and written by Rosalind Ross, produced by Scott Free Productions with Ridley Scott and Giannina Scott attached.

On that project, Snoop said: 'Linking up with Scott Free Productions and working with Ridley Scott and Giannina Scott on God of the Rodeo is life-changing and an honour. Rosalind Ross brought a story with heart and grit, and that's what I'm about.' He added that Death Row Records is also building the soundtrack for that film.

With two major film projects now in motion simultaneously, Snoop Dogg's transition from music icon to serious screen presence appears to be gaining real momentum.
