Mumbai, Aug 7 (NationPress) Actress Somy Ali shared her memories of working in front of the camera for the 1995 film 'Andolan', where she starred alongside Sanjay Dutt.
She expressed that her biggest challenge as an actress in the 90s was the emphasis on songs and dances, especially since she lacked formal dance training.
"I wasn’t trained in dance like many actors are from a young age in India. It’s part of the culture, and I not only lacked the education but struggled to find the rhythm. Clearly, it’s a unique skill," Somy confessed.
She noted that only Saroj Khan (Master ji) could get her to dance, as she found her intimidating (Lol).
Fortunately, her co-star was Sanjay. Somy mentioned that she felt extremely anxious while filming the song 'Dil Toh Khoya hai Yahin pe Kahin pe', but her worries quickly dissipated.
"Sanju is the most genuine, honest, kind, and down-to-earth star you could meet. Similar to Jaggu Dada, he’s an actor ‘for the people’ who walks the streets like everyone else. Sanju has no malice in him," Somy shared on her IG.
She reminisced, "He was incredibly nice to me and helped me relax so much that my nerves vanished. Within just five minutes of our conversation about the U.S. and his time spent there, I felt at ease."
Somy further shared that during the shoot of 'Dil Toh Khoya hai Yahin pe Kahin pe', Sanjay noticed her anxiety and approached her to lighten the mood.
He reassured her, “Don’t worry, I can’t dance either. Just relax and enjoy, considering we both are not great at it,” which made Somy laugh and calmed her down instantly.
"I still cherish these memories as if they happened yesterday. A fantastic co-star and an incredibly kind and generous individual," she concluded.
Somy also shared that she had the chance to meet Dutt Saab (Sunil Dutt) since her father's friend was very close to him.
