Mumbai, March 3 (NationPress) Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha is poised to embark on her highly anticipated debut in the South film industry.

The talented actress, recognized for her performances in Hindi cinema, is stepping into the Telugu film realm with the upcoming thriller ‘Jatadhara’, which also features Sudheer Babu. Although an official announcement is awaited, sources within the industry suggest that Sonakshi has been chosen for a strong, distinctive role that is unlike anything she has portrayed before.

Produced by Zee Studios and helmed by Prerna Arora, “Jatadhara” stars Sudheer Babu in a leading role and has already sparked considerable excitement following its grand muhurat event in Hyderabad. Recent updates indicate that Sonakshi will join the team and commence filming on March 8.

Interestingly, Sonakshi's initial film offer was for the Tamil production “Hey Ram,” where she was set to share the screen with Kamal Haasan.

Meanwhile, the ‘Dabangg’ star was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar.” This series depicted the lives of tawaifs in Lahore's red-light district during the Indian independence struggle against British rule. The Netflix series also featured notable actors such as Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Sharmin Segal Mehta, and Taha Shah Badussha.

In this show, Sonakshi took on the dual roles of Rehana Jahan and Fareedan Jahan.

She is also scheduled to appear alongside her husband, actor Zaheer Iqbal, in the forthcoming project “Tu Hai Meri Kiran.” Directed by Karan Rawal and Sanjana Malhotra, this film marks their second collaboration after “Double XXL.” However, the film is currently entangled in legal disputes, as Adlabs has raised allegations of copyright infringement, claiming that the song “Tu Hai Meri Kiran” violates the rights of several other films in their catalog.

Additionally, Sonakshi Sinha's future projects include “Nikita Roy and the Book of Darkness.”
