Mumbai, Aug 14 (NationPress) Actress-singer Suchitra Krishnamoorthi has introduced her newest artistic creation, an original piece inspired by the national anthem Vande Mataram.
Launched on Thursday, the eve of India's Independence Day, this track embodies the enduring spirit of patriotism while interweaving a profound sense of devotion.
Discussing the song, Suchitra expressed: “For me, Vande Mataram transcends mere music — it is breath, it is heartbeat, it is the pulse of a billion aspirations. I aimed to craft something that resonates like the nation's prayer — gentle enough to comfort, yet powerful enough to inspire.”
The term Vande Mataram, penned in 1876 by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee as India’s national song, has motivated countless generations and fueled the freedom struggle.
Suchitra’s rendition of Vande Mataram pays tribute to that heritage while presenting a completely new musical work, composed and performed by her, merging the sanctity of classical Indian music with the vibrancy of modern fusion.
The music video serves as a visual tribute to India’s beauty and diversity, showcasing sweeping landscapes and AI-enhanced imagery alongside intimate human moments.
This release follows her bestselling memoir Drama Queen, which made history as India's first musical audiobook on Audible Worldwide, a dynamic theatrical journey penned, narrated, and performed by her.
Vande Mataram will be available on all major music platforms starting August 14, 2025, and will also be brought to life on screen under the direction of Seshu KMR.
Suchitra began her career with the TV show Chunauti while still in school. She starred in a theatrical adaptation of Peanuts: The Musical, inspired by the beloved comic strip.
Her breakthrough in films came in 1994 with Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, a commercial and critical success alongside Shahrukh Khan. She also appeared in Kilukkampetti next to Malayalam star Jayaram. In the mid to late 1990s, she ventured into music, releasing popular albums such as Dole Dole, Dum Tara, Aha, and Zindagi.
