Mysuru, Nov 7 (NationPress) Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy called upon citizens to maintain a steadfast sense of patriotism as the nation commemorates the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, the legendary song created by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay.
During the event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the public from the national capital, Delhi, highlighting the significance of this milestone.
Union Minister Kumaraswamy participated in a program at the BEML facility in Mysuru, which was linked to the Prime Minister's live transmission.
"I was thrilled to join the Prime Minister's live event," he expressed, emphasizing that even after one and a half centuries, Vande Mataram is immortal in the hearts of all Indians.
He paid homage to the song, recalling its critical role during the freedom movement.
Kumaraswamy remarked that Vande Mataram united a divided India during colonial times and continues to resonate with the people even after 150 years.
"Hearing Vande Mataram still gives one goosebumps," he noted.
Prime Minister Modi has initiated a year-long series of events to celebrate Vande Mataram. Minister Kumaraswamy urged the youth to embrace the ideals represented in this significant song and cultivate a spirit of patriotism.
During this occasion, H.D. Kumaraswamy also planted a sapling and nurtured it within the BEML premises.
MLA G.T. Harish Gowda and senior officials from the organization were present.
In the meantime, the Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka stated: "Vande Mataram is not just a national anthem or the essence of the freedom struggle—it is a proclamation of cultural nationalism."
The BJP's Karnataka unit, in a post on the social media platform X, remarked: "150 years ago, Vande Mataram ignited a flame that united India in its quest for freedom. Today, in a confident and revitalized New India, that flame has evolved into a national force driving progress, innovation, and global leadership."
