Mumbai, April 14 (NationPress) Actor Sudhanshu Pandey, recognized for his portrayal in ‘Anupamaa’, has expressed his worries regarding the increasing commercialization in the film sector.

He emphasized that the true essence of storytelling is being eclipsed by the pursuit of profit. At the recent Content India Summit 2025, he stated, “There is a need to create something that is genuinely original and deeply rooted. Sadly, we are part of an industry where everyone is attempting to produce films that can be sold. The fundamental idea of filmmaking is flawed.”

“No one is genuinely concentrating on crafting quality narratives or putting in the effort to unearth subjects or stories from deeper within society. There is a wealth of material available. Unfortunately, no one is eager to put in the hard work. Everyone is focused on setting up projects to sell them. They aim to have a saleable name attached to ensure it can be marketed. I understand it’s a double-edged sword,” Sudhanshu added.

The actor also shared his perspective as a producer, discussing the hurdles that Indian creators face in the current content environment. Reflecting on his production journey, Sudhanshu revealed, “I have been working on scripts for more than a decade, and I have three feature film scripts that are finalized, of which two are being pitched to various actors and broadcasters, along with one OTT series, which I take immense pride in, as it is penned by a very dear friend of mine, akin to a younger brother.”

“My vision for production extends beyond merely releasing content; it is about producing work that sparks conversations and leaves a lasting impact. I aspire to be among those producers recognized for their meaningful and socially relevant content that can create a difference.”

Sudhanshu also contemplated the balance between creativity and commercial success.

“Even when I am producing, I would want someone with marketability attached to my project. However, I believe in being honest with my subjects because I would prefer to focus on creating a quality film that is economically viable for everyone involved. If a film is good, I don’t believe it can ever be a losing venture. A well-made film can be marketed effectively and reach audiences who typically wouldn’t engage with Indian cinema globally. This marketing can elevate to the next level if we truly explore themes that are deeply rooted in our lives and society,” he elaborated.

On the professional front, Sudhanshu Pandey was last seen depicting Vanraj Shah in the renowned Star Plus series “Anupamaa.” He departed from the show in August 2024, after a four-year tenure.
