Mumbai, November 7 (NationPress) - The renowned Bollywood actress Sulakshana Pandit sadly passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025.

This afternoon, her funeral procession was held in Mumbai, drawing numerous notable figures from the film industry who came to pay their respects. One of these was the veteran actress Poonam Dhillon.

Speaking to IANS, Dhillon shared her sorrow over the loss of her dear friend. "She was not only a talented actress but also an amazing singer. Her life was filled with challenges. While she initially enjoyed success, things took a turn for the worse later on."

She continued, "Sulakshana truly deserved much more recognition and fame. Vijayta Pandit, along with Jatin-Lalit, supported her commendably until the very end. I often tell Vijayta that every person should have a sibling as devoted as her. I sincerely hope that Sulakshana finds peace in her afterlife." To provide context, Pandit had been battling health issues for an extended period and took her last breath in a Mumbai hospital.

Sulakshana Pandit was a prominent figure in Bollywood during the 1970s. Beyond her acting career, she was recognized for her exceptional vocal talent. She was the sister of actress Vijayta Pandit and the musical duo Jatin-Lalit, and the niece of the illustrious classical vocalist Pandit Jasraj.

She gained fame as a singer with the iconic song 'Saat Samandar Paar Se', performed alongside Lata Mangeshkar for the 1967 film Taqdeer. In 1976, she earned a Filmfare Award for her song 'Tu Hi Sagar Tu Hi Kinara' from the movie Sankalp. Pandit made her acting debut in 1975 with the film Uljhan and appeared in several successful films such as Hera Pheri, Waqt Ki Deewar, Apnapan, and Khandaan.

Throughout her Bollywood journey, Pandit collaborated with legendary actors including Rajesh Khanna, Jeetendra, Vinod Khanna, Shashi Kapoor, and Shatrughan Sinha. Her last playback song was featured in Khamoshi: The Musical, released in 1996, composed by her brothers Jatin and Lalit.
