Mumbai, June 17 (NationPress) After years of setting aside his aspirations, actor Sumbul Touqeer’s father, Touqeer Khan, is ready to step into Bollywood for the first time.
Previously seen in shows like "Crime Patrol" and other series, he paused his acting career to support his daughters, Sumbul and Saniya, during their initial professional journeys. Touqeer shared that he fully committed to their development, managing their busy schedules and accompanying them to various sets. With both daughters now thriving on their own, he feels it’s time to return to the spotlight.
Touqeer Khan told IANS, “This marks my debut in Bollywood. While I have appeared in Crime Patrol and a few serials, this is my first full-length feature. When I moved to Mumbai, I began acting in Crime Patrol just to make ends meet as we faced financial struggles. Eventually, when Saniya and Sumbul secured consistent roles, I stepped back from acting to oversee their schedules. Coordinating for both, especially during conflicting shoot times, consumed my entire day. Now that they have established their independence and encouraged me with, ‘Papa, it's your turn to start again’, I’ve decided to give acting another go.”
Discussing his debut film, he revealed, “Currently, we’re filming in Nalasopara, where an entire slum area has been reconstructed for the project. I portray a local MLA (Member of the Legislative Assembly) who goes door-to-door soliciting votes. The narrative also addresses the critical issue of drug addiction among the youth in that locality.”
The proud father expressed immense pride in watching his daughter Sumbul succeed. “I feel incredibly proud and emotional observing Sumbul’s journey. Not only is she an exceptional actress, but she is also adored by her fans. Seeing her story unfold so beautifully brings me joy. Not every parent is fortunate enough to witness such success and acknowledgment for their child, and I genuinely feel blessed.”
When asked if he would like to share the screen with Sumbul one day, Touqeer modestly declined. He confessed that, although he takes pride in her accomplishments, he wouldn't want to play her father on screen. “She’s such a formidable actress that I would feel completely overshadowed,” he admitted, remarking on her powerful talent and screen presence, which he feels would be difficult to match.
Touqeer Khan further expressed, “I’m eager to take on more acting projects. I believe my appearance suits negative roles, so I’m open to playing villains. I also enjoy comedic parts, so ideally, I’d like to work in either the negative or comedy genres — both excite me equally.”
