Mumbai, Oct 9 (NationPress) The latest court proceeding regarding the disputed wealth of the late industrialist Sunjay Kapur was nothing short of sensational, marked by intense allegations from the attorney representing actress Karisma Kapoor's children.
The Delhi High Court convened to hear a petition from Karisma Kapoor's children, Samaira and Kiaan Kapoor, who are contesting the legitimacy of their late father's alleged will.
Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani claimed before the Delhi High Court on Thursday that the will presented by Sunjay Kapur’s widow, Priya Sachdev Kapur, was a forged document designed to exclude his two children and to appropriate his estate.
The attorney asserted that Sunjay “had no involvement in his own will.” He pointed out that digital records and travel itineraries indicated that the industrialist was vacationing with his son, Kiaan, from March 15 to 18, 2025, during which time the document was allegedly amended.
Mahesh informed the court that the will was modified on March 17 at 11:54 am, a time when Sunjay Kapur was out of town, with his digital traces being replaced by those of the alleged conspirators.
Elaborating on the legal implications, he noted, “This constitutes a serious offense under Section 467 of the Indian Penal Code, which carries a penalty of life imprisonment for will forgery.”
Mahesh Jethmalani did not hold back, branding Priya as behaving like “an evil Cinderella mother” to Samaira and Kiaan, manipulating situations to marginalize them and their grandmother, Rani Kapur, while amassing wealth and authority within her own circle. He accused Priya of orchestrating secrecy around the estate, mandating family members to sign non-disclosure agreements before discussing assets.
The will, dated March 21, 2025, purportedly bequeaths the entirety of Sunjay Kapur’s personal estate to his third wife, Priya Sachdev Kapur. The children have challenged its validity, labeling it as the product of “a criminal conspiracy” involving Priya and her accomplices.
