Bengaluru, Oct 9 (NationPress) Former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda is in good health, alleviating concerns among the public. He is expected to leave the hospital within three to four days, according to Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, H.D. Kumaraswamy.

After visiting his father and checking on his condition in Bengaluru, Kumaraswamy addressed the media, stating, “Supporters and party members need not be anxious. My father is free from any health complications. He has been under medical care for the last three days, and with the grace of God and the support of the public, he is recovering well.”

In a message on social media X, the JD (S) reassured everyone, saying, "Dear party supporters and well-wishers, there is no cause for concern. Former Prime Minister and JD (S) National President H.D. Deve Gowda is on the mend, in good health, and set to be discharged from the hospital soon. The love, blessings, and prayers from the people of our state serve as his true shield. Ignore any false rumors."

H.D. Deve Gowda was admitted to Manipal Hospital at Old Airport Road in Bengaluru due to a decline in his health. Medical professionals have indicated that he is on the path to recovery and is currently stable, as confirmed by hospital officials on Tuesday.

Deve Gowda entered the hospital on Monday night after experiencing symptoms such as chills, fever, and a urinary infection. The health update from Manipal Hospital detailed, "Honourable Prime Minister Deve Gowda has been hospitalized due to an infection. He is presently receiving medical treatment, and a team of experts is closely monitoring his progress."

The 92-year-old JD(S) Rajya Sabha member continues to actively participate in politics, asserting his commitment to ensuring the BJP–JD(S) alliance secures power in Karnataka.

Family sources mention that Deve Gowda has been facing age-related health issues but recently completed a tour of his native Hassan district. He also paid respects to the families of eight victims tragically killed during a Ganesh immersion procession.

According to hospital authorities, Deve Gowda is responding positively to the treatment and is steadily improving.

Revered as the “son of the soil,” Deve Gowda is well-known for his profound understanding of agricultural matters and his dedication to rural development. His political journey spans over seven decades, and he remains a prominent figure in Karnataka’s coalition politics.

Having entered politics in the early 1950s, he initially joined the Indian National Congress, later aligning with the Janata Party and becoming a pivotal figure in Karnataka’s opposition. He served as Chief Minister from December 1994 to May 1996 and became India’s 11th Prime Minister on June 1, 1996, leading the United Front government until April 1997.
