Mumbai, June 16 (NationPress) Actor Sunny Kaushal has recently released his Punjabi rap titled 'Mid Air Freeverse'. He shared that his journey into the rap genre began with the iconic Eminem, widely known as the Rap God.
In a recent interview, Sunny revealed that the inspiration for his song struck him while he was traveling from Delhi to Mumbai.
"I was in a rush to catch my flight and ended up missing my coffee. Once I boarded the plane, I asked the flight attendant for a coffee, but I burned my tongue. That moment sparked the first line of the song," Sunny recounted.
During the two-plus-hour flight, he took out a pen and paper and began crafting his lyrics.
Sunny's musical journey started during the pandemic. He explained, "I began writing as a creative outlet, as shooting was stalled for months. It was born out of a desire to express myself creatively."
Realizing that writing came intuitively to him, Sunny dedicated time to learn the art of lyricism.
"I delved into understanding different techniques and how to blend words or time my rap delivery. I watched numerous YouTube tutorials to enhance my rhyme skills," he added.
His musical influences encompass Eminem, Bohemia, and Karan Aujla.
"Eminem was my gateway to rap. 'Lose Yourself' was the first hip-hop track I heard. Then, Bohemia completely transformed my perspective by introducing Punjabi rap," Sunny mentioned. "I write music whenever I find the time. For me, poetry serves as a means of documenting my emotions."
Sunny Kaushal, the younger brother of Bollywood star Vicky Kaushal, began his career in the film industry as an assistant director on projects like 'My Friend Pinto' and 'Gunday'.
He made his acting debut in the 2016 comedy-drama 'Sunshine Music Tours and Travels', but it was his performance in the sports biopic 'Gold' that garnered him wider recognition.
Since then, Sunny has demonstrated his versatility in various projects, including the web series 'The Forgotten Army – Azaadi Ke Liye' and films such as 'Shiddat', 'Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga', and 'Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba'.
