Mumbai, Nov 1 (NationPress) Director and writer Suparn Verma is gearing up for the release of his new film 'Haq', and he has shared insights into his research approach. Verma made an intriguing comment, asserting that every narrative, even romantic tales, carries a political dimension.
In an interview with IANS during the film's promotional activities, he elaborated on how he ensures his research remains focused. He said, “I delve into the story from the viewpoints of Shazia Bano and Abbas Khan, the protagonists of 'Haq'. Their journey defines the film; anything that doesn’t contribute to their path must be excluded from the narrative.”
Verma continued, “In my view, every story, including a love story, embodies politics. The moment a power dynamic is introduced—like when I say, ‘I love you’—politics is at play. It doesn’t always need to be overt or announced; some beliefs subtly influence your work. Ultimately, I believe that elements enriching the story and captivating the audience deserve a place in the film, while anything that detracts from its essence should be omitted, as cinema is timeless.”
Produced by Junglee Pictures in collaboration with Insomnia Films and Baweja Studios, 'Haq' features Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi in lead roles.
The film is set to hit theaters on November 7, 2025.
