Itanagar, Nov 1 (NationPress) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu firmly stated on Saturday that the state government will not tolerate any form of corruption and that individuals found culpable will face consequences. The Chief Minister addressed concerns regarding the alleged misappropriation of public funds during the land acquisition process for the Lada to Sarli section of the Frontier Highway.

During a public event marking the foundation stone laying of the Grong Buddha Park in the West Kameng district, Khandu revealed that he became aware of the alleged misconduct upon returning from Delhi and promptly initiated the formation of a high-level committee to investigate the claims.

“I have also directed that all individuals found responsible based on the preliminary report be suspended immediately to ensure a fair inquiry. Suspension orders will be issued within a day or two,” he stated.

Khandu expressed frustration that the Frontier Highway project, a result of extensive efforts by the state government in collaboration with the Central government and other stakeholders, is being jeopardized by a few individuals seeking personal gain.

“We have witnessed similar issues in the past, which have negatively affected the timely completion of projects. It is regrettable that this Frontier Highway project, especially the Lada to Sarli stretch, will now face delays. Multiple investigations will ensue, police involvement will occur, and the matter will likely extend into the courts. This is truly unfortunate and unacceptable,” he remarked.

Labeling it a 'nonsense act', Khandu assured that anyone found guilty, whether a government official or a citizen, will not escape accountability.

The Chief Minister commended the West Kameng administration for accomplishing the land acquisition process effectively and transparently.

He also expressed gratitude to the local populace for their cooperation and hoped that other districts along the highway would follow West Kameng's example.

In addition, he congratulated the residents of West Kameng, particularly those from the Singchung area, on the foundation laying of the Grong Buddha Park, which he believes will develop into a significant tourist attraction.

This grand Buddha Park, envisioned as a harmonious blend of development and spirituality, will include a stunning Buddha statue, a monastery, stupas, a museum, a water body, guest facilities, a library, cafeteria, office and reception area, parking, kiosks, resting huts, gardens, and courtyards.

“Once completed, it will serve as a tranquil center for faith and reflection while fostering tourism, local livelihoods, and cultural preservation in the area,” he added.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister launched three new applications: one designed by the West Kameng district administration and two from the district police. These include the ‘Yakatopia app’ for tourism facilitation, the ‘Choo-mantar app’ to educate children about 'good touch – bad touch', and the ‘YodhaBandhu app’ aimed at providing tele-counseling and awareness for youth affected by substance abuse.

He also inaugurated a new police station in Singchung, the newly built Bhalukpong police station, a new academic block at the Government Higher Secondary School in Singchung, and three road projects.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister laid the foundation for 21 new projects in the district, expressing optimism that these will be completed on time without compromising quality.

Khandu was accompanied by Home Minister Mama Natung and all five MLAs from Tawang and West Kameng, including host Tenzin Nyima Glow.
