Los Angeles, Dec 19 (NationPress) Academy Award-winning actress Kate Winslet shared her rather unconventional superstition, declaring that she uses salt in her shoes and pockets to ward off toxic energy from "tricky individuals".

During her appearance on The Capital Evening Show with Jimmy Hill, Winslet talked about her Goodbye June co-star Toni Collette, whose character, Helen, is on a holistic journey while facing the impending loss of her mother, June (played by Helen Mirren) over the Christmas season.

When asked if she has ever tried crystal healing or sound baths, which seem to be trendy in Hollywood, Winslet admitted, "I haven't actually done a sound bath, no. I do have a slight allergic reaction to anything that is described as Hollywoody. But I’m not opposed to a little bit of a talisman-y something or other-y. I don’t mind that."

Curious about saging, the host prompted, "A bit of saging?" Winslet responded, "Not necessarily sage. A bit of salt in your shoes, though. A bit of salt in your pockets," as reported by femalefirst.co.uk.

When questioned if this superstition relates to energy, Winslet affirmed, "Yes. If you are encountering tricky individuals in life, a little bit of protection by salt in the pocket helps. It soaks up the toxicity and doesn’t go into you. I have done that."

The host humorously noted, "That’s where I’m going wrong. I need to fill my pockets with salt." Winslet laughed, "Shove salt in your shoes. Totally nuts!"

In 2024, Winslet praised Emma Thompson for being a protective figure in her life, noting that she has always heeded the advice of her Sense and Sensibility co-star.

Speaking at the 92NY Center for Culture and Arts in New York City, Winslet shared, "(Emma) has a groundedness and a clarity of perception about the industry as a whole. She was quite sort of protective of me."

Thompson expressed her concerns for Winslet after her breakout role as Rose DeWitt Bukater in Titanic, a role that significantly impacted her career, as reported by femalefirst.co.uk.

Winslet recalled, "I think she was actually just a bit worried, like - you know, not, ‘is Kate gonna go off the rails?’ because clearly that wasn’t in my personality - but just that it can be very overwhelming, and what was I gonna do?"

She recalled Thompson’s advice: "Just remember, it’s equally as important not to work as it’s to work." Winslet has never forgotten this wisdom, fearing that overexposure could lead to her being replaced, "I wanted to always be doing this job. And I thought, God, if I do it, then maybe people would get sick of me and argue, ‘Well, not her anymore, and let’s move on to somebody else.'"
