This time, a senior officer is accused of accumulating assets that exceed his legitimate income sources by 232 percent, according to a high-ranking official.

The individual in question is Rajendra Kumar Samantray, serving as the Forest Range Officer in the Rahama Forest Range located in Jagatsinghpur district. Following allegations regarding his disproportionate asset accumulation, the Odisha Vigilance executed coordinated searches at various properties associated with Samantray on Saturday.

A total of four teams from Odisha Vigilance, comprising two Additional Superintendents of Police, five Deputy Superintendents of Police, eight Inspectors, and additional support staff, conducted the raids based on search warrants issued by the Court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack.

The search operations targeted several locations, including a triple-storey residential building in Chatara, a double-storey residence in his native village Samantarayapur, his office at Forest Range, Sampur, and a government quarters situated within the Jagatsinghpur Forest Range campus under the Cuttack Forest Division.

During these searches, the anti-corruption team uncovered assets valued in crores, including a luxurious multi-storeyed property, five significant plots, cash totaling Rs 3.69 lakh, gold weighing 250 grams, and bank deposits amounting to Rs 80.68 lakh, among other findings.

“Post thorough searches, inventory checks, and further investigations, it was determined that Rajendra Kumar Samantray, the Forest Range Officer at Rahama Forest Range, Jagatsinghpur district, holds assets that are 232 percent beyond his known income sources,” disclosed a representative from the Vigilance.

Reports indicate that over the past 18 months, the Odisha Vigilance has apprehended 271 government employees, including 20 police officials, in connection with bribery offenses, underscoring the state's aggressive stance against corruption.
