Bhubaneswar, June 1 (NationPress) The Odisha Vigilance on Sunday apprehended one Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) from the Roads and Buildings (R&B) division, a unit of the state Works Department, for accumulating assets significantly exceeding his declared income by 119 percent.
Following allegations regarding the possession of disproportionate assets, simultaneous searches were executed at the properties of N. Dillip Kumar Choudhury, AEE, R&B Division-I, Berhampur, on Saturday across four locations in Bhubaneswar and Berhampur. Four teams from the Odisha Vigilance, consisting of three Deputy Superintendents of Police, seven Inspectors, and additional staff, carried out the searches under Search Warrants issued by the Special Judge of Vigilance, Berhampur.
The anti-corruption officers discovered substantial assets owned by Choudhury and his family during the investigations. The findings included a multi-storeyed building valued at Rs 1 crore, two flats in upscale areas of Bhubaneswar and Berhampur worth approximately Rs 1.5 crore, and 11 plots of land in Berhampur and nearby regions valued at over Rs 2 crore. Additionally, bank and insurance deposits amounted to more than Rs 29 lakh.
“After conducting a detailed search, inventory, and further inquiry, the income, expenditure, and assets of N. Dillip Kumar Choudhury, AEE, R&B Division-I, Berhampur, were evaluated, revealing that he possessed disproportionate assets that were 119 percent above his known income sources,” stated a vigilance official on Sunday.
