Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, February 27 (NationPress) Actress Swastika Mukherjee, who is set to portray a mother in the forthcoming film ‘Chheledhora’, emphasized that this film revolves around discovering strength in vulnerable moments.
This Indo-American Production will commence filming on March 1 and is directed by Shieladitya Moulik, with shooting locations in the untouched landscapes of Itanagar and Ziro in Arunachal Pradesh.
Regarding her role, Swastika remarked, “Brishti is a challenging character to embrace because she is impulsive, hurt, and profoundly flawed; however, her instinctive and fierce love for her daughter drew me in. The vulnerability within her character, along with the unexpected journey that leads her to confront her own self, makes this a poignant story about motherhood, forgiveness, and finding resilience in delicate times.”
‘Chheledhora’ narrates the tale of Brishti, a divorced and misunderstood woman, played by Mukherjee, who impulsively “takes” her daughter for a birthday celebration, only to have her child genuinely abducted. Brishti is compelled to rectify the situation through unconventional means, embarking on a transformative journey that challenges self-centered parents to reevaluate their roles as caregivers.
The film intertwines emotional family drama with elements of thriller and dark humor, presenting itself as a unique Bengali-language road film led by a morally intricate female lead.
Shieladitya Moulik shared, “‘Chheledhora’ portrays broken parents discovering hidden courage and selflessness. I have a profound interest in flawed individuals capable of love. While the film may unfold like a road trip filled with unexpected twists, at its core, it explores healing and how children often unknowingly serve as the moral compass for adults. It’s an intimate narrative about second chances and rediscovering humanity.”
He added, “I am thrilled to film in Arunachal Pradesh. The region is not just stunning but is also home to talented actors and technicians. Our cast and crew include 14 members from the area. Although Arunachal Pradesh is central to our story, we have broadened our scope with this Indo-American collaboration, featuring Italian cinematographer Vincenzo Condorelli and a strategic international festival plan.”
Produced by Handyyman and Sita22 Films, ‘Chheledhora’ represents a significant Indo-American partnership.
