Is Telangana Set to Transform Hyderabad into the Heart of Indian Cinema?

Hyderabad, June 10 (NationPress) The government of Telangana is gearing up to position Hyderabad as the nucleus of the Indian cinema industry.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, who heads the Ministerial Sub-Committee focused on film industry advancement, has instructed the Information Department Commissioner and Film Development Corporation officials to draft a Detailed Project Report (DPR) to facilitate this transformation.

A meeting of the Ministerial Sub-Committee aimed at the holistic development of the film sector took place on Tuesday. In attendance were Ministers and Sub-Committee members Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and D. Sridhar Babu, who deliberated on several critical matters.

The Deputy CM highlighted the government's ambition to turn Hyderabad into a cinematic hub that draws talent from across India and beyond.

Currently, filmmakers in Telangana encounter significant obstacles regarding shooting permissions, needing clearances from various departments like police, fire services, and municipal bodies. To address this, the sub-committee has resolved to streamline the process. The Deputy CM has directed officials to create a single-window system under the Film Development Corporation, appointing a dedicated officer to manage and expedite approvals from all relevant departments.

Furthermore, the Deputy CM underscored that permitting film shoots at various tourist attractions within the state would further enhance tourism.

Another concern raised was the inflated prices of food and beverages at cinema theatres, which inconveniences the public. The Deputy CM has called for measures to regulate these costs.

The sub-committee also discussed land-related issues. Previously, the state government allocated 50 acres to the Film Development Corporation, and the Deputy CM has asked for an update on the current status of this land at the next meeting.

He suggested inviting the RCS Committee overseeing Chitrapuri Colony for film workers to participate in the upcoming meeting.

In anticipation of the Telangana Gaddar Film Awards ceremony slated for June 14, the Deputy CM has urged for it to be executed with grandeur, aiming to make it a historic event. He has instructed officials to invite all prominent figures from the Telugu film industry as well as notable cinema personalities from across the nation.

The meeting saw participation from Film Development Corporation Chairman Dil Raju, Home Department Special Chief Secretary Ravi Gupta, Information Department Commissioner Harish, FDC Executive Director Kishore Babu, among others.
