Chennai, Jan 22 (NationPress) Kannada film icon Sathish Ninasam, who takes center stage in director Vinod V Dhondale's upcoming Kannada historical social drama 'The Rise of Ashoka', revealed that the movie showcases a staggering 1000 actors and was filmed over a remarkable 138 days.
At a press conference in Chennai, the actor shared insights about the film, stating, "This narrative is rooted in a true event from the 1970s, located at the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border. It revolves around a young boy aspiring to join government service, seeking liberation from the constraints that bind him and others from his community to their traditional occupations."
Discussing the challenges of recreating the 1970s setting, Sathish remarked, "We aimed for simple thatched houses and pathways devoid of modern roads. The styles of dress and appearances were vastly different back then, necessitating meticulous recreation of those elements."
He further emphasized, "With a cast of 1000 individuals, we were committed to portraying even the smallest details of their characters accurately. The entire filming process spanned 138 days."
Sathish noted the judicious use of CG to assist in evoking the historical era, stating, "Our film features an impressive 1400 CG shots. The beauty lies in its realism; viewers will hardly notice the CGI. For example, we filmed real people in genuine locations, using CG to enhance scenes, such as expanding a flower field and removing contemporary elements like power lines that were non-existent in that time period. The CG work alone took six months and is now complete, as we prepare for a February release."
The film stars actress Sapthami Gowda, known for her role in Kantara, alongside Sathish Ninasam. The cast also includes B. Suresh, Sampath Maithreya, Gopal Krishna Deshapande, Yashh Shetty, Jagappa, Ravishankar (Armugha), Dragon Manju, and Devanuru Chandru.
Cinematography is handled by Lavith and the music score is composed by Poornachandra Tejaswi.
