Los Angeles, Aug 4 (NationPress) Hollywood sensation Tom Holland has expressed that stepping into the shoes of the debonair spy James Bond would represent the "pinnacle" of his professional journey.
Known for his role as Spider-Man, the actor is rumored to take on the iconic agent 007 in Denis Villeneuve's forthcoming installment of the franchise.
During a conversation with Gordon Ramsay on YouTube, Holland addressed the swirling rumors, stating, "Listen, there’s speculation currently. We'll keep it minimal for now. We'll get there eventually."
Ramsay then pressed Holland further on the matter.
He remarked, "Can you envision the impact on your life if you land this role? You’d be thrilled about this opportunity, right?"
Holland responded, "For every young British actor, it’s the pinnacle of our industry. I already feel like the luckiest kid on the planet. I could never have imagined having the career I do."
These remarks from the Devil All the Time star come shortly after Taron Egerton, known for Rocketman, rejected the notion of replacing Daniel Craig as 007, claiming he is "too messy," according to femalefirst.co.uk.
When asked about the possibility of portraying Bond, Egerton told Collider, "I don’t think I'm a suitable choice for it. I feel I’m too messy for that role. I have a deep appreciation for James Bond, especially Daniel Craig's era.
“I wouldn’t excel at it, and there are many talented younger actors who would be fantastic in that role. It'd likely be wasted on me."
Egerton acknowledged that leading the Bond franchise is "quite a challenge."
The 35-year-old actor elaborated, "This doesn’t imply I lack ambitions or plans, nor that I wouldn’t be interested in something more commercial. I’m currently in a phase where I’m gravitating toward projects that resonate with me creatively, but that won’t last forever.
"However, James Bond is a significant commitment, and as far as I know, nobody's reaching out to me for it."
He concluded that he might find greater fulfillment in exploring different film opportunities.
He stated, "It might not be the role that brings me the most joy. I believe it's a massive undertaking that can consume your life, a role like that."
Meanwhile, reports suggest that Sydney Sweeney is being considered for the next Bond girl role.
