Mumbai, Jan 6 (NationPress) Celebrated director Rahi Anil Barve, known for his acclaimed film ‘Tumbbad’, is poised to make a significant return to cinema with his new project ‘Mayasabha’. He describes this film as a unique fusion of symbolism and suspense.

The cast features well-known actors such as Jaaved Jaaferi, Mohammad Samad, Veena Jamkar, and Deepak Damle, offering an intense and reflective look at human relationships and the illusions that govern them.

Prior to its official release, ‘Mayasabha’ has garnered significant interest on the festival circuit, with a special screening at the 3rd Asian Film Festival set for January 11. Following this, the film will be featured at the Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) 2026, organized by the Government of Maharashtra, on January 17.

Director Rahi Anil Barve shared his insights, stating, “With ‘Mayasabha’, my second film post Tumbbad, I aim to revisit the style of storytelling that has always captivated me—myth, mystery, and psychological complexity. After Tumbbad, I felt an urge to challenge both myself and the audience once more, and ‘Mayasabha’ embodies that challenge. This film promises an exploration into concealed truths and power dynamics that are far more perilous than they may initially seem.”

He further elaborated, “The film ventures boldly into a realm where symbolism intertwines with suspense, often allowing silence to resonate more than spoken words. Visually, I aimed to craft a world that is sharper, darker, and profoundly immersive—one where tension and philosophy coexist, with every frame rich in meaning.”

Produced by Zirkon Films, Mayasabha is spearheaded by producers Girish Patel and Ankoor J Singh, with support from co-producers Shamrao Bhagwan Yadav, Chanda Yadav, Kewal Handa, and Manish Handa. The film will be presented and distributed by Pickle Entertainment.
