Chennai, July 19 (NationPress) Actor Udhaya, who stars in director Prabhu Srinivas’s much-anticipated film ‘Accused’, has revealed that the film's production team purchased a bus specifically for a crucial action sequence.
During a conversation with IANS at a press conference hosted by the film's team, Udhaya stated, "There’s a significant action scene in which the bus flips over. We initially sought to rent a bus but faced refusals from owners once we mentioned the need for it to be overturned. Ultimately, the filmmakers, committed to maintaining the action's intensity, decided to acquire a brand new bus solely for this scene."
Udhaya emphasized the challenges and risks involved in filming the action sequence, yet he noted that it was successfully executed.
"We dedicated about 10 to 12 days solely to this action sequence," Udhaya shared, explaining that the bus ended up in such a condition post-shoot that it could only be sold for scrap.
"However, we are extremely confident about the film's outcome. It runs for nearly two hours and ten minutes and promises to be captivating from start to finish," he expressed.
The film has generated significant buzz among fans and cinephiles since the release of its teaser.
In ‘Accused’, Ajmal takes on the role of a police officer while Udhaya portrays a convict. The teaser opens with Ajmal documenting Udhaya's custody at the Puzhal central prison, indicating his mission to transport the prisoner. Yet, the task proves to be far more complex than anticipated.
Alongside Udhaya and Ajmal, the film features notable actor Yogi Babu in a key role, with acclaimed director Prabhu Solomon also making an appearance.
Filming commenced in January of this year and has now wrapped up, with the release date set for August 1.
Produced under the banners of Jaeshan Studios, Sri Dayakaran Cine Productions, and MIY Studios, ‘Accused’ boasts a substantial budget, backed by A.L. Udhaya, ‘Daya’ N. Panneerselvam, and M. Thangavel.
The film stars popular Kannada actress Jahnvika as the lead female character. ‘Accused’ is a gangster drama that challenges the notion that all accused individuals are guilty, exploring how even innocent people can be ensnared by systemic failures and become criminals. This film marks the inaugural collaboration between Udhaya, Ajmal, and Yogi Babu.
The cinematography is led by Maruthanayagam I, with music composed by Naren Balakumar, and editing handled by renowned editor K L Praveen. The action sequences were expertly choreographed by the famed stunt director Stunt Silva.
