Chennai, April 29 (NationPress) Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan has encouraged his Instagram followers to strive to be "the Marco with a six-pack on hand" rather than the one "mimicking the Marco with cigs on hand".
In the action-packed film ‘Marco’, directed by Haneef Adeni, Unni Mukundan took the lead role, and the film achieved remarkable success at the box office, becoming the first Malayalam film with an ‘A’ rating to surpass an astounding Rs 100 crore in earnings.
Despite its commercial success, the film faced backlash for its graphic violence.
Recently, the actor shared a scene from the movie where he was depicted smoking a cigar.
To dissuade his followers from adopting smoking habits, he posted on Instagram advocating for a healthier lifestyle over smoking.
He shared another image highlighting his muscular physique from the film, noting, "The weight of a single cigarette typically ranges between 0.7 to 1.0 grams, depending on the brand and type. Thus, the total weight (including the filter and paper) is generally about one gram on average. If that’s how you feel man enough, please reconsider your options."
He added, "FYI: Men lift 50 kgs of iron to actually go high. Guys, the choice is yours. P.S.: Easier to mimic the Marco with cigs on hand. Try being the Marco with a six-pack on hand. To be the latter, you will need something called, The Grit."
Interestingly, Unni Mukundan's appeal to avoid smoking came just days after actor Suriya urged his fans to quit smoking.
During a pre-release event for Karthik Subbaraj's 'Retro' at Lulu Mall in Trivandrum, Suriya cautioned, "Just one caution. I have smoked cigarettes for the sake of the film. Please don't smoke cigarettes in your life."
Suriya emphasized the addictive nature of smoking, stating "If you start smoking, you will not be able to stop. You will start by saying, 'Just one puff or just one cigarette.' But once you start, you will not be able to stop," and concluded, "I will definitely not endorse that and don't do that."
