Chennai, April 28 (NationPress) Actor Suriya, who portrays a smoking character in his upcoming movie 'Retro', emphasized that his on-screen smoking was solely for cinematic purposes. He passionately urged his fans to refrain from smoking in real life.
During a pre-release gathering for director Karthik Subbaraj's 'Retro' at Lulu Mall in Trivandrum, Suriya stated, "Let me give you all a word of caution. I have smoked cigarettes for the film's sake. Please don't indulge in smoking in your everyday life."
He elaborated, stating that once someone begins smoking, quitting becomes a significant challenge. "If you pick up smoking, stopping becomes nearly impossible. You might think, 'Just one puff or just one cigarette.' But once the habit forms, it is difficult to break away from it," he remarked, adding, "I will never support that, so please don’t do it."
Suriya also mentioned that this film is a unique offering from Karthik Subbaraj, differentiating it from the 45 films he has previously starred in. "I genuinely hope to collaborate with Karthik many more times in my career," he expressed.
The movie is set to release on May 1 this year and has a runtime of two hours, 48 minutes, and 30 seconds.
In addition to Suriya and Pooja Hegde, the film boasts a cast that includes Malayalam stars Joju George and Jayaram, along with Tamil actor Karunakaran.
Featuring music by Santhosh Narayanan and cinematography by Shreyaas Krishna, the editing is managed by Shafique Mohamed Ali, while Jacki and Mayapandi handle the art direction. The film promises high-octane action, with stunts choreographed by Kecha Khamphakdee.
