Mumbai, January 31 (NationPress) – Actress and social media influencer Uorfi Javed has responded emphatically to recent online rumors regarding her religious beliefs and identity, asserting that she does not adhere to any faith.

Her comments come in light of social media figure Faizan Ansari's claims that Muslims have decided to expel Uorfi from Islam, allegedly changing her name to Geeta Bharadwaj.

In an exclusive interview with IANS, Uorfi labeled these allegations as unfounded, stating, “I myself left the religion long ago. Who is fabricating these claims now?”

Regarding the supposed name change to Geeta Bharadwaj, Uorfi remarked, “Who said this? There is no such report. They are concocting stories. I don’t follow any religion. I am an atheist. So how can you expel someone from a place they don’t belong to?”

Earlier today, Faizan Ansari publicly claimed in a video that Uorfi had been “expelled” from Islam and would now be known as Geeta Bharadwaj. He asserted that a decision had been made by ‘Muslims’ to dissociate Javed from the community due to her repeated disparagement of it.

In the video, Ansari stated, “Hello everyone, I’m Faizan Ansari. There is a girl tarnishing the name of Muslims not just in India but globally. She openly states that she does not believe in the Quran or Islam. Her name was Muslim until now, Uorfi Javed. She has brought disgrace to the Muslim name worldwide, and every Muslim criticizes her.”

He added, “Thus, we Muslims have resolved that Uorfi Javed is no longer a Muslim. I have submitted a written notice to the Maulana, head of the All India Muslim community. I didn’t seek permission; I informed him that Uorfi Javed is no longer affiliated with the Muslim community, and her new name is Geeta Bharadwaj.”

Faizan expressed, “I am making this announcement publicly so that everyone knows Uorfi Javed is not a Muslim anymore. Her name is Geeta Bharadwaj. All Muslims have made this decision. I have sent a written letter to the Maulana, and I will share it with this video. Please spread the word about what happens when someone disrespects the name of Muslims. From today onward, Uorfi Javed is Geeta Bharadwaj. She has no standing in the Muslim community or society. For confirmation, I’ll attach the letter. Thank you.”

Point of View

I believe Uorfi Javed's situation raises important questions about personal beliefs and the role of social media in shaping public perception. The need for respect and understanding in conversations about religion is paramount.
