Upcoming OTT Releases: Paatal Lok 2, Black Warrant, and More for January 2025

Mumbai, Jan 2 (NationPress): As we welcome 2025, film lovers have numerous enticing options this January. From the eagerly awaited second season of Paatal Lok to Viduthalai Part 2 starring Vijay Sethupathi, and Zahan Kapoor's inaugural project, Black Warrant, there's plenty to choose from.

Here’s an extensive overview of the OTT releases set for January 2025:

Paatal Lok S2

At the forefront is season 2 of the critically acclaimed web series Paatal Lok. Directed by Sudip Sharma, the first season of this crime thriller premiered on Prime Video in 2020. It followed the journey of police officer Hathi Ram Chaudhary as he investigated an assassination attempt on a journalist, leading to the capture of four suspects. The new season sees Jaideep Ahlawat, Ishwak Singh, and Gul Panag returning to their roles, alongside newcomers like Tillotama Shome, Nagesh Kukunoor, and Jahnu Barua. Produced by Clean Slate Filmz and Eunoia Films LLP, the second season is directed by Avinash Arun Dhaware and is set to launch globally on January 17.

All We Imagine Is Light

Payal Kapadia’s film, All We Imagine As Light, made a significant impact at the Cannes Film Festival 2024. The film has received nominations for the Golden Globes in both the Best Motion Picture - Non-English Language and Best Director categories, making Kapadia the third Asian woman nominated for Best Director. Moreover, All We Imagine As Light has also been nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at The Critics Choice Awards. The narrative revolves around a Mumbai nurse who relocates to the city with her partner in search of love and authenticity. This drama, featuring strong performances by Divya Prabha and Kani Kasruti, will be available on Disney + Hotstar starting January 3, 2025.

Black Warrant

Zahan Kapoor, grandson of Shashi Kapoor, is set to make his Bollywood debut in the jail drama Black Warrant, directed by Vikramaditya Motwane. Premiering on Netflix on January 10, this film is inspired by the 2019 book Black Warrant: Confessions of a Tihar Jailer by Sunil Gupta and Sunetra Choudhury. Zahan plays the role of a jailer in Tihar, alongside a talented cast that includes Rahul Bhat, Paramvir Singh Cheema, Anurag Thakur, Sidhant Gupta, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Rajendra Gupta, Rajshri Deshpande, Joy Sengupta, and Priya Chauhan.

Viduthalai Part 2

The period crime thriller Viduthalai Part 2, directed by Vetrimaaran, is set to debut on Zee5 on January 17. This sequel to Viduthalai Part 1 is based on Jeyamohan's short story Thunaivan. The film features prominent actors such as Soori, Vijay Sethupathi, Manju Warrier, and Gautham Vasudev Menon. Jointly produced by Elred Kumar and Vetrimaaran, the score for Viduthalai Part 2 is composed by Ilaiyaraaja.

The Sabarmati Report

Vikrant Massey and Raashii Khanna make their on-screen debut in Dheeraj Sarna's political drama The Sabarmati Report. Following its theatrical release, the film is set for its OTT premiere on ZEE5 on January 10. The movie is a cinematic retelling of the tragic 2002 Godhra train incident in Gujarat. Produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and Vikir Films Production, the film features notable performances from Riddhi Dogra, Sundip Ved, Digvijay Purohit, and Hella Stichlmair.

Shark Tank S4

Finally, the latest season of the beloved reality series Shark Tank 4 will premiere on SonyLIV starting January 6. This season features Sharks Aman Gupta, Anupam Mittal, and Namita Thapar as they compete to secure the best deals from aspiring entrepreneurs. Like its predecessors, Shark Tank 4 promises to deliver plenty of entertainment and drama.
