Mumbai, Aug 2 (NationPress) Actor Vaibhav Raj Gupta has garnered significant acclaim for his impactful yet nuanced portrayal of Vikram Singh in the gripping crime thriller "Mandala Murders".
In a recent exclusive discussion with IANS, Vaibhav shared his reflections on the most unforgettable moments he experienced while filming the series.
During the conversation, he disclosed that he maintained a strict diet consisting solely of boiled food and chicken for an extensive period of eight months, which meant he had to forgo wedding banquets, even when attending close friends' celebrations.
"I used to fantasize about food! After finishing a challenging scene at Banaras Ghat, I compiled a list of 24 dishes that I yearned to indulge in—puri sabzi, chole bhature, burgers, desserts, kheer—you name it. That meal was truly well-deserved, and I learned the true value of food that day," he reminisced.
When discussing his collaboration with Vaani Kapoor and Surveen Chawla for the first time, Vaibhav described the experience as "amazing".
He added, "I’ve admired Vaani since her performance in 'Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui'. She is stunning, diligent, and a committed co-actor. Surveen is exceptionally talented, versatile, and effortlessly skilled in her craft. We enjoyed great workshops together, and I gained valuable insights from both of them."
When asked whether he altered his acting style for the role of Vikram or drew inspiration from anyone, Vaibhav responded that he collaborated closely with both directors for months.
“Gopi sir envisioned Vikram Singh from the very start. I underwent a physical transformation over six to eight months—training at the YRF gym, adhering to a strict diet, and meticulously working on every aspect, from costume and hairstyle to voice modulation, posture, and interactions with other characters.”
He also mentioned that he drew inspiration from the late actor Om Puri's performance in his 1983 film "Ardh Satya", as well as Manoj Bajpayee's portrayal in "Shool".
Vaibhav revealed that he also looked up to Amitabh Bachchan's extensive body of work to inform his character in "Mandala Murders".
