Mumbai, Nov 9 (NationPress) Actress Vartika Singh shared her insights about collaborating with Emraan Hashmi on her first film, “Haq.”
In a special interview with IANS, she commended him for fostering an equal and encouraging atmosphere on set. Vartika emphasized that his humble demeanor and cooperative spirit made it much easier for her to act with confidence alongside the renowned star.
When reflecting on her time working with Emraan, Vartika stated, “Emraan is an incredibly grounded artist. When you meet him, the aura of stardom disappears. He ensures you feel just as significant as he is. Sitting beside him, you don’t sense that you're with a superstar. He cultivates an equal environment, which enhances your performance. His mastery of craft is astonishing—he transitions from casual to deeply emotional scenes so seamlessly that it leaves you in awe.”
Regarding her scenes with Yami Gautam, the former Miss Universe India mentioned, “Most of my scenes with Yami were emotionally intense due to our dynamic in the film. There wasn’t much room for light-hearted moments on set, as both of us needed to maintain a certain mental space before each scene. However, I drew a lot of inspiration from her tranquility and attention to detail—how profoundly she connects with her character, even in subtle gestures like holding a handkerchief.”
Discussing her emotional preparation for the role, Vartika revealed that she completely immersed herself in the character. “As an actor, total surrender is essential. I endeavored to understand Saira’s thoughts and feelings. I even penned poems from her perspective to better grasp her emotions. I envisioned her backstory—where she came from, her upbringing, her encounter with Abbas, and the challenges she faced. This process helped me define her inner world, and I documented everything in my diary to connect her emotional strands. I also integrated aspects of my personality, such as empathy, to make her more genuine.”
Vartika Singh, a former Miss Universe India, marked her entry into Bollywood with the recently released courtroom thriller “Haq.” The film stars Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam in pivotal roles. Loosely based on the Shah Bano case, the narrative follows Vartika's character Saira, who falls for Shazia’s husband (played by Emraan Hashmi), leading to a controversial second marriage and a subsequent legal struggle.
Directed by Suparn S Varma, this courtroom drama hit theaters on November 7, 2025.
