Mumbai, Oct 25 (NationPress) Vartika Singh, the former Miss Universe India and renowned supermodel, is poised to embark on her journey in Bollywood with the much-anticipated courtroom thriller “Haq”, featuring Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam.
Under the direction of Suparn Varma and produced by Junglee Pictures, “Haq” presents Vartika in the role of a woman characterized by her unpredictability and emotional depth.
Varma, acclaimed for his work on The Family Man and Rana Naidu, describes her portrayal as “controlled fire.”
In preparation for her role, the former beauty queen engaged with dialect coaches and participated in improvisation workshops, delving into her character’s silences—what Varma refers to as “the quiet machinery of guilt.”
Set against the backdrop of a contentious legal battle, “Haq” brings together Emraan and Yami in a case that intersects with Singh’s character in ways they could never foresee.
Inspired by Jigna Vora’s book “Bano: Bharat ki Beti,” “Haq” provides a dramatized account of the events surrounding the Shah Bano case, a pivotal issue that ignited public debate years ago and remains significant today.
When discussing the film’s impact, Vora stated: “I’m certain it will resonate deeply with audiences. The teaser is already released, showcasing a profound narrative. The film, set in a gripping courtroom environment, reflects my writing style, and I believe actors like Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi have embodied their roles beautifully.”
Is any part of her book personally inspired?
The former journalist remarked: “Absolutely. The lead character, Shah Bano, was an exceptionally strong individual. She faced divorce in her sixties, yet bravely fought for her rights—initially in the Madhya Pradesh High Court and subsequently in the Supreme Court. Her journey was fraught with challenges, and I aimed to encapsulate her emotional struggles and strength in my narrative, honoring her story.”
Supported by Junglee Pictures, alongside Insomnia Films and Baweja Studios, “Haq” is scheduled for release on November 7.
