Chennai, July 15 (NationPress) National Award-winning director Pandiraj, whose forthcoming family entertainer Thalaivan Thalaivi stars Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menen, has revealed that prior to this film, both he and Sethupathi had mutually agreed to not work together due to a significant difference of opinion.
At a pre-release event for Thalaivan Thalaivi, Pandiraj discussed how they reconciled their differences to collaborate on this project. He recounted, "Not long ago, we had a minor disagreement that escalated. It reached a point where we mutually concluded that we would never collaborate again. However, everything changed at one of director Mysskin's birthday celebrations. When I saw Sethupathi arrive, I was unsure whether to approach him. Eventually, Mysskin gathered us for the cake-cutting ceremony. I believed Sethupathi wouldn’t spot me in the crowd. After the cake was served, suddenly, I felt a hand on my shoulder, pulling me into a warm embrace. It was Vijay Sethupathi. He greeted me warmly and asked, 'Shall we do a film together?' and that was the moment our differences vanished.
Pandiraj further disclosed that when he crafted the script for this film, he immediately thought of Vijay Sethupathi as the perfect choice for the lead role.
"My cinematographer has collaborated with Sethupathi on several projects. Upon hearing the script, he contacted Sethupathi and mentioned that 'Pandiraj has an incredible story and believes you would excel in the lead role.' Sethupathi expressed enthusiasm and urged us to come right away. I only narrated the story for about 20 minutes, and after loving the plot and the character names, Sethupathi instantly agreed to join the project," Pandiraj elaborated, explaining how their collaboration began.
Thalaivan Thalaivi, which has generated considerable excitement among fans and film enthusiasts, features music by Santhosh Narayanan and is produced by one of Tamil cinema's most esteemed production houses, Sathya Jyothi Films. The movie is set to be released on July 25 this year.
