Mumbai, Aug 4 (NationPress) Writer Virag Mishra shared his insights on the importance of creative freedom for lyricists in an exclusive discussion with IANS.
He emphasized that a free-flowing process of ideas is essential for achieving the best outcomes.
In his conversation, Virag remarked, "One should not confine themselves to their own thoughts. A person who lacks mental freedom often feels trapped. Fortunately, we have not faced this issue; our collaborators, including producers, are supportive. Our mutual understanding allows for a smoother creative exchange. If a producer has a vision for a song, it's vital to consider it, as we are not the only contributors to a project—singers, programmers, audiences, and producers are all involved. Therefore, the creative process should allow for open dialogue without any grudges."
Recently, Virag penned the heartfelt lyrics for the title track of the upcoming film 'Dhadak 2', starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri.
Discussing the songwriting for 'Bas Ek Dhadak', he explained that lyrics can emerge in two ways—either the lyrics come first, followed by the melody, or the melody inspires the lyrics.
In this instance, the composer duo Javed-Mohsin had already crafted a stunning melody filled with depth and emotion. "The structure was so inspiring that it encouraged me to step beyond my usual style of straightforward poetry," he noted.
For the first time, he delved into Urdu poetry, creating lines such as: “Chaand ka gurur mit gaya, tu mujhe zameen bhi dik gaya, shairon ne haar maan li, tujh pe main woh nazm lik gaya… The melody beautifully complemented these lines, adding sincerity to every note," Virag concluded.
