New Delhi, July 23 (NationPress) Music composer Mithoon revealed that he never completely discards songs; instead, he might pause them for various factors beyond just his own dissatisfaction.
When questioned if he has ever abandoned a fully produced song because it felt inauthentic, Mithoon responded to IANS: “I wouldn’t label it as scrapped, but occasionally, ideas and songs are set aside for multiple reasons, which extend beyond my personal contentment.”
Mithoon's journey in music began with two notable recreations: “Woh Lamhe” from Zeher and “Aadat” from Kalyug. He composed the score for Anwar, which debuted in 2007, and his tracks Tose Naina Lage and Maula Mere remain incredibly popular.
Additionally, he has served as a guest composer for various non-film albums, including “Kuch Is Tarah” from Atif Aslam's album Doorie, as well as contributions to Abhijeet Sawant's “Ek Shaqs”.
He also created two songs: “Aye Khuda” and “Phir Mohabbat” for the movie Murder 2, which notably marked Arijit Singh's debut.
Mithoon has also played a crucial role as a solo or guest composer for films such as Jism 2, Yaariyan, Ek Villain, Sanam Re, Ki & Ka, Shivaay, Half Girlfriend, Baaghi 2, Kabir Singh, Khuda Haafiz, Radhe Shyam, and Gadar 2, among others.
Does he feel that melody has taken a backseat in contemporary film music?
Mithoon, who recently composed the track “Dhun” for the latest film “Saiyaara”, stated: “I’ve mentioned this previously... creating and enjoying music is an ongoing journey. The core of every song is its melody.”
“The way people connect with that melody is subjective and depends on individual taste, but without a foundational melody, no song can truly exist,” he emphasized.
Recently, he introduced a new song titled ‘Chandaniya’. This track, composed by Mithoon and sung by Vishal Mishra, features lyrics by Sayeed Quadri. It is part of the composer’s album ‘Master of Melody’.
Following the overwhelming success of ‘Saiyaara’, ‘Chandaniya’ is the second release from Mithoon’s album, continuing his journey of emotionally resonant, minimalist storytelling through music.
