Mumbai, July 19 (NationPress) Music composer Mithoon, known for his work on the song 'Dhun' from the recently released film 'Saiyaara', stated that deconstructing his music is nearly impossible due to his minimalistic approach to orchestration.

In a recent interview with IANS, he expressed his belief in preserving the core of a song through simplified programming.

Mithoon elaborated, “In my case, you typically cannot deconstruct my songs because they are inherently very minimalistic. I believe that the song and its emotion define its identity, regardless of the level of programming involved.”

He credited his inclination towards creating impactful tracks with less complexity to his collaboration with director Mohit Suri, with whom he has partnered for two decades.

“Mohit often listens to my pieces solely on the piano and gives instant approval. He has an exceptional ability to gauge the emotional resonance of a song just from the piano version, sometimes preferring it that way. This is the unique strength of Mohit Suri. As a poet, composer, and arranger, my passion for music can drive my creativity. However, Mohit often guides me to restrain that passion,” Mithoon shared.

He continued, “When I suggest adding violins, he advises against it. When I want to incorporate a choir, he insists on simplicity. Yet, this is the nature of a music composer’s enthusiasm. So, when I work on another project, I utilize all my ideas.”

Mithoon then reflected on how Mohit refined the song with his insights, saying, “This is Mohit's specialty. For the first time, I’m saying this: when I initially overdid 'Dhun' before filming, he reached out to me. He pointed out that the initial draft lacked the necessary pauses. The beauty of singing lies in the rises and falls. The protagonist is a vulnerable character, and those silences are crucial.”

“If it were anyone else, they might have been swayed by the track's complexity. But Mohit seeks genuine connection, which enriches my music,” he concluded.

'Saiyaara' is currently screening in cinemas.
