Mumbai, July 24 (NationPress) Music composer Mithoon has expressed his views on the ethics surrounding the reimagining of classic tracks, stating that he believes remixes are no longer a prevailing trend.
“I do not think remixes are a trend anymore,” Mithoon remarked in an interview with IANS.
The composer recently honored the legacies of Raj Kapoor and Manoj Kumar with a musical tribute featuring a 60-piece orchestra at an awards ceremony, receiving an outpouring of appreciation from fans worldwide.
“There must be a sense of responsibility when approaching these timeless classics,” he added.
“If we approach such enduring works with care and aesthetic consideration, we can preserve their sanctity,” he noted.
If he had the chance to revive a particular musical era, which decade would he choose?
Mithoon responded, “I believe each era possesses its unique charm, and I am confident that we can still create magical music in our current time, just as it was crafted in the past.”
The composer, known for his recent track “Dhun” featured in “Saiyaara”, began his career with notable recreations such as “Woh Lamhe” in Zeher and “Aadat” in Kalyug. His score for Anwar, released in 2007, and songs like “Tose Naina Lage” and “Maula Mere” remain immensely popular.
He has been a key composer for films including Jism 2, Yaariyan, Ek Villain, Sanam Re, Ki & Ka, Shivaay, Half Girlfriend, Baaghi 2, Kabir Singh, Khuda Haafiz, Radhe Shyam, and Gadar 2, among others.
His latest release, “Chandaniya”, composed by Mithoon and sung by Vishal Mishra, features lyrics by Sayeed Quadri. This song is part of his album ‘Master of Melody’.
Following the overwhelming success of 'Saiyaara', 'Chandaniya' marks the second single from Mithoon's album, continuing his journey into emotionally resonant, minimalist storytelling through music.
