Vishal Aditya Singh on 'Dil Se Deewangi Tak': 'I have never played a character like this'
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Television actor Vishal Aditya Singh is gearing up for one of the most unconventional roles of his career in the vertical daily soap 'Dil Se Deewangi Tak', which streams on Alright! TV. The actor says the character pushes him into territory he has never explored before — and that is precisely what drew him to the project.
Why Vishal Said Yes to the Show
The actor, best known for his role in 'Chandrakanta', said the show's format was a significant factor in his decision. 'Dil Se Deewangi Tak' is the first daily soap in the vertical format for the platform, and Singh wanted to understand the storytelling possibilities that vertical viewing unlocks.
'This is Vertical's first daily soap, and I wanted to explore this medium. Phones are going to remain an integral part of our lives, so I wanted to understand what kind of work is being created for the vertical format. When I had a meeting and saw the show, I felt it had the essence of a television show — good casting, good writing and good execution. Keeping all these things in mind, I decided to do the show,' he said.
The Character: A Familiar Face With a New Identity
Singh's role in the show is layered and unusual. He plays a character who is new to viewers on the surface but is rooted in the events of the previous season — a narrative device involving plastic surgery that introduces him as a replacement for a character from the earlier arc.
'My character is very different. I have never played a character like this before. In the previous season, there was another boy, and after he underwent plastic surgery, I came in as a new character. However, this character may look new, but he actually belongs to the previous season. I have never played such a character before, and it is challenging to play someone else's character,' Singh explained.
An Actor Who Thrives on Challenges
Singh has consistently sought out roles that stretch his range as a performer. He said the complexity of this character was a key motivator. 'I like challenging roles, and I have always tried to do something that challenges me as an actor. I am always excited about taking on such roles, and that was one of the reasons I decided to do this show,' he added.
Cast and Premiere Details
'Dil Se Deewangi Tak' also features Yukti Kapoor, Piyush Sahdev, and Akanksha Puri in key roles. The show premiered on Alright! TV on 21 April 2026. With the vertical format still finding its footing in India's crowded OTT and digital space, the show's reception could signal how audiences respond to long-form storytelling built natively for mobile screens.
